About the Conference
The Chinese Taipei Society for Biomaterial and Controlled Release has been established for more than twenty-five years. It has long been committed to advancing research and development in Taiwan in the fields of biomedical materials and drug delivery, and has served as an important platform that connects industry, government, academia, research institutions, and the medical community. Through the Society, scholars in Taiwan have been able to actively participate in major international academic organizations and conferences in biomedical materials and drug delivery, including the International Union of Societies for Biomaterials Science and Engineering (IUSBSE) and the World Biomaterials Congress (WBC) organized by the Union, the Controlled Release Society (CRS), Asian academic alliances related to biomaterials, and the Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society (TERMIS). These engagements help align Taiwan’s research achievements with international frontiers, while comprehensively enhancing Taiwan’s research capacity and global visibility in the fields of biomedical materials and drug delivery.
The Society plans to hold the “2026 Biomaterials and Controlled Release Society Annual Meeting & Prof. Chau Jen Lee Memorial International Symposium" at National Taiwan University from Thursday, August 6 to Friday, August 7, 2026. In addition to upholding the core spirit of the Society’s annual meeting, this event will, for the first time, be expanded into an international symposium on a larger scale. Renowned scholars from Europe, North America, and across Asia will be invited to jointly discuss the latest research trends and clinical translational advances in the fields of biomedical materials and controlled drug release.
Marking the 30th anniversary of the passing of Prof. Chau-Jen Lee, a seminal pioneer in Taiwan’s biomedical engineering and biomaterials fields, this year’s annual meeting will be held in conjunction with an international symposium and a dedicated Prof. Chau-Jen Lee Memorial Symposium, in tribute to his outstanding contributions to the advancement of biomedical engineering, biomaterials, and interdisciplinary research in Taiwan. The memorial symposium will bring together Prof. Lee’s academic successors, along with renowned scholars and distinguished research teams from Taiwan and abroad, to reflect on his scholarly legacy and research impact. It will also extend the discussion to forward-looking developments in contemporary biomaterials and controlled drug delivery, highlighting Prof. Lee’s profound and enduring academic influence.
This year’s conference will cover a broad range of topics, including tissue engineering, regenerative medicine, nanobiomaterials and their applications, drug and gene delivery systems, smart and functional biomaterials, 3D-printing applications in biomedical engineering, and forums on industry–academia collaboration and technology translation. The meeting will bring together leading scholars from Taiwan and abroad, clinicians, and industry leaders with extensive hands-on experience to share their latest achievements and forward-looking perspectives spanning fundamental research, clinical applications, and industrial innovation. The conference is expected to attract more than 100 participants from Taiwan and overseas, including experts from academia, research institutes, and the medical community, as well as industry professionals and M.S./Ph.D. students.
To continue nurturing and encouraging the next generation in Taiwan to engage in research on biomaterials and controlled drug delivery, the annual meeting will also feature the Prof. Chau-Jen Lee Biomedical Engineering Development Foundation Young Scholar Award, the Biomaterials and Controlled Release Society (BCRS) Young Scholar Award, as well as oral and poster presentation competitions for M.S. and Ph.D. students. Award-winning young scholars and students, upon approval of funding by the Society, may have the opportunity to receive travel support to attend international academic conferences, thereby expanding their global academic perspectives and strengthening research exchange.
The Society cordially invites members, scholars, and colleagues from Taiwan and abroad, as well as partners from industry and the medical community, to participate in this Annual Meeting, the International Symposium, and the Prof. Chau-Jen Lee Memorial Symposium. Together, we will honor the legacy of our predecessors, carry forward their spirit, and work hand in hand to advance Taiwan’s research in biomaterials and controlled drug delivery onto an even broader international stage.
The abstract submission deadline is April 30 (one-page abstract). Early-bird registration is available for payments completed by June 25.
We look forward to seeing you at the meeting!
Wishing everyone peace and good health.
